*OPENING HYMN “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” Hymn #90
*GATHERING PRAYER (in unison)
Welcoming God, through your goodness we have come together in faith. In the sharing of food and drink that earth has offered and human hands have prepared, may we know we are united as one in faith with people around the world. Enable us to celebrate the life Jesus shared with His disciples as he ate with them and when He taught the prayer…
*LORD’S PRAYER (using “debts”)
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
*GLORIA PATRI (sung by the people) #35
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost,
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen. Amen.

Almighty and most holy God, we confess with shame that we have tried to put you off again and again with lame excuses. Give us the Spirit that sets us free, through Jesus the Christ. Amen

World Communion
On October 2nd the famous, infamous and those of us in between will gather at a common table. This is the Sunday when Christians of all denominations celebrate World Communion Sunday. We come to the table from the North and South, the East and the West. It is a great privilege to share this meal. There is no cost to us. We just have to drop in.
While there is no cost to us, the cross is a sign that reminds us of the great cost to the host.
Are You Excited? Can You Feel the Love? (by Ruth Costello)
I can feel it! It is Communion Sunday!
At first I don't know what I feel. Slowly, as preparations unfold – I can feel it .
I feel a spiritual wholeness—I feel blessed because I realize how powerful it is;
how powerful it was at that last supper Jesus shared with His apostles.
I feel a tingling all over me as I remember the teaching of all the Bible stories
I‘ve heard and lessons learned.
The tingling remains as I eagerly await the joy I know is coming.
I feel as though I am actually sitting at a large wooden table, the table of The Lord!
I can smell the aroma of fresh bread and sacred wine. I sense a change in location
I feel as though I am actually breaking bread and sipping wine with the Lord Himself
and His apostles. All my senses are alive ass I observe the actual breaking of
bread and I see Jesus breaking the bread so long ago. When I sip the wine I feel
His presence and I humbly accept the love He holds out to me.
I eagerly refill my spiritual life's cup. With a love that is unequaled, He shed His
blood to remind me that He loves us all so very much.
I melt into myself—loved, safe, and secure in the knowledge that this
sensational feeling will be mine again on the next Communion Sunday!
Then I wonder if anyone else feels the same as I do.
