Outdoor Ministries Policy

Center Harbor Congregational Church, through the Board of Christian Education promotes and encourages participation in Outdoor Ministries ("Church Camps") for all ages. For children through grade 12, the CHCC will fund one seven day session of summer camp and/or one weekend of winter camp, per child to attend camp. The CHCC will fund ½ of the cost of the summer camp (as budgeted annually by the congregation). The cost of Youth Retreats (winter camps) to be as follows: 1/3 CHCC budgeted camp fund, 1/3 the Bliss 5% fund and 1/3 the child’s parent. Any desired session that is longer than seven days, will individually be addressed by the BOCE as to the amount to be paid by the church.

The child must be currently enrolled in the Church School, and attend a minimum of one third of the classes held during the Church School year. If a family starts attending part way through the school year, the attendance will be pro rated according to the date of first attendance. Youth must be active with the Church

There must be two adults for each cabin where required and one adult on standby in case someone is unable to go as planned. CHCC will fund (if desired) one half the adult cost or a figure decided by the BOCE.

The initial deposit ($100 in the past) is paid by the parents when registering for a camp session. This is due at a time set by the church’s coordinator each year to secure a reservation in the child's first choice of camps. This is part of the parent's portion of the total cost. All checks are written to Center Harbor Congregational Church. The balance of the camp fee to be paid by the parents will be due in mid-May. The church's coordinator of Outdoor Ministries (this person does not have to be a member of the BOCE) will communicate information to church members and facilitate the process of registration, payment, and confirmation of choices. Dates and amounts will vary for winter camps.

Friends (non-church related) of children attending camp are welcome to register through the Outdoor Ministries Coordinator of CHCC. All of their fees are the responsibility of the parents. All checks are written to Center Harbor Congregational Church and mailed directly to the church. Payment schedule as noted above.
