Navigation Tips
Introduction Scrolling Back and Forward
To start navigating on the World Wide Web, you open your "Browser" and type in a site's URL on the address line and (left) click on "Go" or press "Enter" on your computer keyboard. You will probably enter a site on it's Home Page. From there you may navigate to different pages on that site, or you may click on links that will lead you to other sites.
Scrolling means moving the page around on your screen in order to view the whole page (if the content is larger than your screen). This may be done in two ways:
1) With your mouse, place the cursor over the scrollbar at the side and/or bottom of your screen. Then (left) click and drag the bar up and down and/or left and right.
2) If you have a scroll button on your mouse...first make sure you are on the page you are looking at by (left) clicking on a blank space on the page. Then move the mouse's scroll button up and down to move the page.
When clicking on buttons or links, pay attention to whether they a) open a page in the same browser window, or b) open a new browser window. For example:
a) If the page is in the same browser window, you may (left) click on your browser's "<--Back" button to get back to the previous page. Then you may (left) click on your browser's "Forward-->" button to return to the page you've already viewed.
b) If the page opened a new browser window, you may navigate separately from the first site you were on. When finished, just (left) click on the "X" on the upper right corner of the screen to exit. Your original browser will still be open.
Beware of links to other sites that open in the same browser, especially if you want to go back to the original site. If this is the case, do not "X" out, but click the "Back" button on your browser to return to the previous page you were on.
You may now "X" out of this page. Here's a link to the church's home page in case you need it:
